Online Teaching and Assignments

March 23rd-27th

Please see below for the following material for this week.

All work can be printed off and filled out on the worksheets, or completed on a seperate piece of loose leaf. The only work that needs to be handed in this week is the journal entry that will be due on or before Friday, March 27th by email. The rest of the work will be brought into school when we return to regular classes.

ELA

  • Spelling- Complete Week 20 Spelling booklet throughout this week.                                                                                                         Be sure to download the list that matches your name.

    • * Remember to check the definitions of the words that you aren't familiar with, and to do your sentences for each word as well. You can do some practice quizzes later in the week or on the weekend with a parent or sibling to check your progress.

    • Group 1​ - Czarina, Carlos, Emil,

    • Group 2 - David, Juliana

  • Grammar- Complete the worksheets on adding detail to sentences on the page itself or on a piece of loose leaf. Remember to be practicing this skill when writing your journal entries as it makes your writing more exciting to read! Check your answers once you're done. Make any corrections, if needed.

 

  • Journal Writing- Write a journal entry for the question below.    Due on or before Friday, March 27th 

    • How do you feel about having to learn from home for 2 weeks instead of coming to school due to coronavirus? What are some things you are looking forward to, and what are some things that you might be nervous or worried about? Your entry should be about 1 page, double spaced (skip a line). It can be typed or done on loose leaf. Please send me your entry once you're finished (on or before Friday, March 27th). You can email me your document on the computer, or take a picture of your loose leaf and email it that way. 

  • Novel Study- We will be starting our novel study this week. Attached is a PDF version of the book.

    • Read chapters 1-3 of "Touching Spirit Bear"​ throughout this week.

      • ** Please email me if you'd like me to send you the e-reader friendly version for iPads. ​

    • Complete the chapter questions that go with the reading for Chapters 1-3

      • Answers can can be done on loose leaf, but just be sure to title which chapter and question number you are answering. Keep your answers organized and all together​. 

Math

  • Weekly Math 2 - Multiplying Fractions

    • Complete the Weekly Math pages throughout the week. Try to complete 2 columns a day​. *Note* The answers are attached only to check your work once completed.

  • Weekly Math 2  - Converting Fractions/Decimals. 

    • Complete the Weekly Math page 2 once you have completed Weekly Math 1.​

  • Test yourself on Weekly Math 1 & 2 - Once you've completed your Weekly Math pages, try the quizzes without looking at your notes and see how you do. Once you're finished, correct your quizzes and do any corrections you might have. Click below to open your quiz.

 

 

Science

  • Review Water Cycle

    • Take some time to review the water cycle notes from class. 

    • Print the PDF file if possible. Label the diagram and explain the water cycle in your own words, using the terms provided in the box. 

  • Review Clouds

    • Re-read cloud notes from class. See the PowerPoint notes as well.

    • Complete the the Cloud Observation worksheet. Have a look outside at the clouds and record some information about what you see. Include what type of cloud has formed that day (and a short description of it, example wispy, dark, fluffy, etc.), the date, and draw a picture of it. On the back of the page, also include what the overall weather is like that day (include temperature, precipitation etc.)

      • Just write down which day you are including.

Social Studies

  • Chapter 5- We will begin working on and reading Chapter 5 this week. â€‹

    • Complete the Chapter Preview pages that will get you familiar with this chapter.

      • You can do this before you begin reading the chapter. ​

    • Complete "putting events in order" page. 

      • You can either print out the worksheet and cut and paste, OR re-write the events in order on a piece of loose leaf or in ​your Social Studies notebook.

    • Try to read about 3 pages a day to spread it out throughout the week.​​

Religion

  • Lent Chapter- Read the pages provided from the textbook.

    • Reflect on your own life and think about how the readings relate to you. Answer the questions​ from the textbook as you go along in your Religion notebook, or loose leaf. Be sure to include the question you're answering and the page number it's from.
