Online Teaching and Assignments

Monday, June 1st - Friday June 5th 

See below for this week's work. 

 

** Please note: This is the work for the entire week - Split it up so that you're doing a few hours per day- the recommendation for Grade 5 is roughly 2 hours a day, with focus on Math and ELA.

- Remember to "refresh" the website page each day/time you visit to account for any changes or updates made.

- If you are coming in for extra help on Tuesday, be sure that you've emailed me to let me know you're coming. The office will not let you in if your name is not on the list.  : )

  • Wednesday June 3rd. 10:00 am - To go over and review Math work posted for this week.

    • If there is something in particular you'd like me to go over, please send me a message before Wednesday​ and I will be sure to cover it in our lesson. 

    • If I don't get any requests then we will just do a quick review and a few examples together.

ELA

  • Spelling- complete Week 29 spelling booklet. Try to spend about 15-30 minutes a day working through your booklet or reviewing your words (once your booklet is completed). Get someone at home to do an at home quiz on Thursday or Friday.

  • Novel Study - Read chapters 23 - 25 of "Touching Spirit Bear". (about 30 min reading everyday)

Math​

​

  • ​Lines - Intersecting, parallel and perpendicular 

    • Review notes, videos and powerpoints from last week (see last week's page if you didn't print or save them).

    • Complete the lines worksheets (there are 3 in the file below). Check your answers once you're finished. If you're still having some issues with this, send me a message. We can review some more together during our Teams Meeting on Wednesday. Don't forget to review last week's notes first.

  • Identifying Quadrilaterals 

    • Review notes, videos and powerpoints from last week (see last week's page if you didn't print or save them).​

    • Complete the worksheets on identifying quadrilaterals. Use the notes provided to help you!

    • Quadrilateral Characteristics Page- Fill out the the chart. Under the name of each quadrilateral draw a picture of the shapte. Under where it says "characteristic" use point form notes to describe the shape. Write as much as you can for each. Describe things like, parallel, intersecting and perpendicular lines and different angles (acute, right and obtuse).

      • Use your notes from last week to help you.​

  • ​

    • Classifying Quadrilateral Worksheet- Complete the worksheet by answering the questions.

      • Due by email on Friday, June 5th.​

  • ​

    • Quadrilateral memory game. (play on your own or with others!)

      • Print of the pages and cut out the squares with words and shapes. Mix them up and spread them out on the floor or table (the cards must be face down).

      • Take turns flipping over 2 card. If the word and picture match then you keep those cards and go again. If the word and picture don't match, flip both cards back over and the next person takes their turn. Continue until you (and your other players) have successfully matched all of the cards together.

  • Simple Machines Unit

    • Review simple machine notes from previous weeks.

    • Complete the 3 worksheets

    • Check your answers after you've finished.
