Online Teaching and Assignments

See below for this week's work. 

 

** Please note: This is the work for the entire week - Split it up so that you're doing a few hours per day- the recommendation for Grade 5 is roughly 2 hours a day, with focus on Math and ELA.

- Remember to "refresh" the website page each day/time you visit to account for any changes or updates made.

- If you are coming in for extra help on Tuesday, be sure that you've emailed me to let me know you're coming. The office will not let you in if your name is not on the list.  : )

ELA

  • Spelling- complete Week 29 spelling booklet. Try to spend about 15-30 minutes a day working through your booklet or reviewing your words (once your booklet is completed). Get someone at home to do an at home quiz on Thursday or Friday.

  • Novel Study - Read chapters 26 & 27 of "Touching Spirit Bear". (about 30 min reading everyday)

    • Answer the chapter questions in full sentences.

    • These chapter questions will be due by Friday, June 12th.​

  • Extra * optional

    • Choose a top of your choice and write a journal entry, or short story.

    • Be sure to check spelling, punctuation, grammar etc. 

    • Get creative!

Math​

  • Transformations of shapes (translation, rotation & reflections)​
    • First watch the video on transformations. Basically we are looking at 3 different ways​ to move a shape on a page, without changing its size or shape.
    • Read through the notes attached.
    • Once you've watched the video 1 or 2 times and gone through the notes, try out the worksheets below.
    • We will have a Teams meeting on Wednesday to go over some examples. Please be sure that you've watched the video and tried a few questions before the meeting.​  Worksheet #4 due Friday, June 12th.

Science

  • Simple Machines Unit

    • Review your notes from the previous weeks

    • Complete the 4 page "unit test" as an end of unit review.

    • This will be due in 2 weeks, so use some time to go through your notes and previous worksheets that you've completed.

      • Don't start it until later in the week or early next week to ensure that you've reviewed your notes enough.

    • Due by email on Friday, June 19th
